I've been doing loads of stuff, but I'm not allowed to tell you about any of it. Apart from these things:

Just recently done sets at Stairs To Korea's launch party and Moshi Moshi's monthly night, and another coming up at Brainlove Festival on May 28! You can hear a bit what I might sound like from this mix I did back in February on Phuturelabs.

Teeth

Teeth's album WHATEVER, produced by me (yay) is totally finished and mastered and it'll be out on Moshi Moshi some time over the summer. Here's some words about them in Clash.

Sparkadia

I did some extra production on "The Great Impression" and "Fingerprints" from Sparkadia's album "The Great Impression" which is now out in Australia! You should buy it, it's really really good.

Idiot Glee

Ace Moshi Moshi artist and Kentucky resident Idiot Glee did some live tracks at the studio last time he was in the UK - he's back for a European tour and plays a free show the Vortex TOMORROW (ie Thurs 12th). Read about it and hear a track from the session on Snipe. There's a video too which I'll post soon...

I just realised I've been banging on about my remixes so much that I have failed to mention some great records that are coming your way! Records that I happened to have a hand in making. We're just in time for this first one...

Napoleon IIIrd's album "Christiania" is out TODAY and it's really quite remarkable. Entirely and painstakingly composed and put together by Napoleon at home in Holmfirth, he then decamped to Dreamtrak for a week in the summer where we recorded some overdubs with Sky Larkin and the legendary Cosmic Seb (Braindead Collective), iced the cakes, and mixed/mastered it all to perfection.

Zun Zun Egui's second EP "Kass To La Sènn" is out on 6th Dec and was recorded by myself, a marvellous chap called Norris and the band at Alma Vale Studio in Bristol - then mixed by me at Dreamtrak. That was ages ago - but now you can get it, at last! Have a listen to one of the tracks at their myspace (because myspace's new embed player doesn't work, surprise surprise), and while you're listening, pre-order the 12" from norman records... and then have a look at us recording it here:

My remix of 'See Spaces' by TEETH is available to download!

First up on Snipe, which is an awesome culture newspaper - it's not only great on the internet, but also available everywhere on an actual thing called paper! Amazing. The remix is on their Soundcloud page where it's had over 450 plays in the last 4 hours... :O

They say "His refined sensibility is put to great use here, slowly building the intensity into a euphoric blowout that sounds something like The Knife turned up to eleven." :D :D

The mix is also up on High Voltage, and they very kindly say "This remix comes from Dreamtrak, who can count Gaggle, Foals and, another HV fave, Internet Forever amongst their CV. You might say these acts are somewhat unremixable, yet Dreamtrak's background in recording and mixing for the likes of Zun Zun Egui and Youthmovies shows an ability to pick melodies and enhance them."

Just got back from Dundee with A Scholar and A Physician - we were working with Chicks On Speed in preparation for their exhibition at the DCA, which runs from now until 8th August.

Steve and I did a bunch of soundtrack and effects work for the video projections, and then appeared live during the opening performance, playing some custom synths built into cigar boxes that CoS created. It was ace! You can read more about the preparations at the CoS blog.

Also I'm doing some exciting DREAMTRAK remixes at the moment - just finished TEETH and Pagan Wanderer Lu so hopefully you can hear those soooon, and about to start work on mixes for Silver Columns and Bodebrixen! I updated the clunky dinosaur that is myspace so you can hear some, but also there's also some up on the fb fan page in a much prettier soundcloud player.

Next up I'm recording some new tracks with Foals, which, all being well, will end up as B-sides to forthcoming singles. I'll try and keep you posted as it's happening, if I get a spare moment inbetween recording and sleeping that is.

I am playing the Yamaha PSS 680, my first ever keyboard. It's pretty good, you can record 5 different melodies and play them back at any time and speed, reprogram the drum rhythms (1 memory) and even edit the 2-op FM synth and save 5 patches! It's probably responsible for everything since.

We were both sad that I had left my BOY cap and sunglasses at home.

Well this is exciting. Three Dreamtrak Diamond Sessions in a row! These were all recorded in the same evening down by the Sólfar - a big metal sculpture of a viking boat, somewhere along the harbour in Reykjavik. We dithered a bit too much getting there so it ended up being a tad dark.

1. Did a remix for Diskjokke and he loved it! Fingers crossed it should get a release at some point soon...

2. Guested on keyboards for half a song with Internet Forever at Barden's on saturday, then they were in session with Huw Stephens on Radio 1 on wednesday! They've also made a stunning video for their single with my good friend Crinan Campbell :D

3. As if that wasn't good enough, Huw then played the Dreamtrak-mixed Stairs To Korea on THE SAME SHOW! In previous weeks he has also played dreamtrak productions of Gaggle and Zun Zun Egui - basically I love him. "Boy Bear It In Mind" by Stairs To Korea is out on Brainlove in the very near future - have a listen:

CRAZY BAND NEWS WEEK!

I've been lucky enough recently to work with some bands who I think are totally awesome, and it seems that both the INTERNET and the PRESS agree!

GAGGLE have a full page in this week's NME - exciting!

We've just finished a cracking remix for them too, hopefully you will get to hear this soooon....

INTERNET FOREVER have been all over their internet homeland this week, and in the Observer last weekend. Blimey! See them on Pitchfork and Fader and they were even on T4! (nb, this last bit is technically a lie).

We've also just finished a cracking remix for them too!!

STAIRS TO KOREA has home-made an amazing video for "Boy Bear It In Mind" which is going to be his first single in September. We mixed the single at dreamtrak, and I'm even in the video a bit!

So much excitement for one week, I can barely contain myself. Also, the new TRADEMARK record is FINISHED! OMG etc.

Trademark have a new EP coming later this year. It's called At Loch Shiel.

Loch Shiel is a place in Lochaber, Scotland where we wrote the starting points for the songs. We took a few synths and a laptop to Glenfinnan, set it all up in the living room of the house and got to work. This was nearly 3 years ago though... We're just very slow and very particular...

We recently performed the entire EP live at DREAMTRAK (mk I), collecting all our synths in one place and using no computers (almost). We're editing the footage at the moment, but here's a sneak preview:

The EP also includes our reinterpretation of a track we co-wrote with German trance legends Blank and Jones for their album The Logic Of Pleasure. Here's a non-video-video where you can hear their version:

The last couple of weeks was jam-packed - so much so that I forgot to tell you about it.

First, the phenomenal Internet Forever came in and recorded 3 and a half songs which I am currently mixing...

Then! Multi-faceted top-notch tunesmith Stairs to Korea came in and played nearly everything himself...

The last session I did (the day before moving out) was recording some new tracks with amazing altchoir Gaggle - but with 25 people in the studio I didn't even have time to think about making a video...

You like? Well, Internet Forever and Stairs To Korea are playing a joint house party show for the awesome online zine PARTYNICE on the 11th July, and Gaggle are playing as part of some amazing Brainlove-curated stuff at the amazing Shunt underneath London Bridge station on 3rd July. Wooooooo!

Yesterday me, Paul Soulsby and my dad moved the entirety of dreamtrak to a new location in Hackney.

It's gonna be great. It's 5 minutes from my house so if you come and record with me you can come round for dinner too.

The live room is a bit smaller, but if you're a band and you want to record with me, I'll bring a suitcase full of stuff and we'll find somewhere nice to set up and do it. To save room I had to finally throw out my broken bontempi which I have owned for 12 years.
